English Muffin Bread Recipe

If you’re anything like me then you enjoy eating toast or bread with honey for breakfast.

Well, I must admit, it may not be as healthy as eating well-known cereals the first thing in the morning, but I’ll tell you one thing:

I WILL ALWAYS choose toast with jam over the cereals. Besides, I have a pretty busy schedule, and I need a kick of “sugar” right from the start of my day.

Well, the reason why I’m writing this article is because I want to share my favorite recipes with you, to make your mornings sweeter so that you can be as energized and happy as I am.

Okay, so what recipes am I going to share with you? Well, remarkable English muffin Bread recipes, that you will fall in love with, the second you try it/them.

I don’t know how often you cook or bake, but I do that almost every day. And I am always experimenting and trying out new recipes.

There is nothing funnier and more enjoyable to me than spending a half of my day (when I’m not at my work) in my kitchen.

So, I’ve tried English muffin bread for the first time at my friend’s, and I was impressed by its unique taste.

After a few days, I wanted to make this recipe on my own, hence I googled it (of course).

After trying out a couple of variations, I managed to find the most delicious ones, and those recipes I’m sharing with you today.

Let’s have some fun, shall we?

Oh, just to mention, I’m sharing two recipes with you – one for baking the bread in the oven, and the other one for baking in the bread machine.

I love them both, only the second one requires less preparation, and I always set my bread machine to bake the bread while I’m sleeping, so that fresh and crispy muffin bread waits for me in the morning.

English Muffin Bread Recipe

Prep time: 30 mins

Cook time: 45 mins

Total Time: 1 hour 15 mins

Serves: 4 loaves of bread

3 packages of Bread machine yeast (rapid rise) or active dry yeast (which will have to rise twice)
1 liter and 250 milliliters of water
11 cups all-purpose bread flour
6 teaspoons salt
3 Tablespoons sugar

1. Get A Perfect Mixture

Put all the ingredients in the bowl and use a mixer to get a nice texture of the dough. You’ll notice that the dough is very sticky, but don’t worry; it should be that way.

When you’re done mixing, you should spoon into 4 loaf pans. Of course, make sure that you put enough oil on every side of the pan and also on the bottom so that the dough won’t stick too much.

2. Preheat Your Oven

It’s important to turn on the oven before you let the dough rise. For the best results, you can even turn on the oven before you start measuring the ingredients.

3. Rise up!

When you put the dough into loaf pans, let it rise all the way up to the top of the pan. Of course, if you opt for active dry yeast, this part will take more time than when using rapid-rise yeast.

However, do keep in mind that active dry yeast will activate more flavors so your bread will be even tastier.

4. It’s Baking Timeeeee!

When the dough is ready, put the pan in the oven, and bake for 30-45 minutes at 350 degrees. The baking time will depend on your oven, so you have to keep an eye on the dough.

The bread should have that lovely golden brown color on all sides.

5. Brush, Brush, Brush

When the bread is done, take it out from the oven, and use a silicone brush to spread melted butter all over it. This will make it a bit softer.

6. Is It Cool?

Don’t forget to let the bread cool completely, otherwise, you won’t be able to slice it properly.

7. Enjoy!

Serve the bread toasted or leave it like that, it’s up to you. I love toasted version, with a loooot of honey and butter on it. You can try the bread with any kind of jam, or even with chocolate.

English Muffin Bread Recipe ( The Bread Machine Version)

Prep time: 15 mins.

Baking time: 60 3 hours

Total time: around 4 hours

Servings: 1 loaf of bread

1/3 or ¼ cup water
4 deciliters slightly warm milk
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 Tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons instant yeast (you can add a bit more if you want)
3 ½ cups All-purpose flour

1. Let’s Put It All In!

When you measured all the ingredients, place them into the pan of your bread machine.

A Smaller amount of water is ideal if it is summer, while the larger amount of water is suitable for winter or if you happen to live in a dry climate area.

2. Choose The Perfection

Choose basic white bread cycle on your machine, and also set the desired crustiness (though I recommend light crust).

Through the second kneading cycle, don’t forget to check on the dough and add more water/ flour, if needed.

3. Let’s Make It Real.

If you want the bread to be in its best taste and shape, then I suggest removing it before the last rise and rolling in cornmeal. After you’ve done that, put the dough back in the bread machine and let it rise and bake.

4. That’s It.

When the bread is done, remove it and let it cool completely. Serve with honey and butter, chocolate, jam or anything else you may like. Enjoy!

Conclusion | English Muffin Bread Recipe

And there you have it – yummy English muffin Bread Recipes that will make your mornings sweeter and your evenings more romantic (or just sweeter).

I hope you will love both recipes. In case you don’t have a bread machine, I highly recommend you getting one, as you will enter the world of the exceptional taste of bread.

Bread Recipe

Healthy Bread Recipes You Can Make at Home

Everyone loves bread.

However, some people worry that bread make us fat. That is not true at all. The calorie content of bread is easily burned.

Plus, breads are healthy food options, especially if they are made of whole wheat flour. To know more healthy breads and how to make one, here are few of the healthy bread recipes that you can include in your diet:

Oatmeal Healthy Bread Recipes

Oatmeal breads are high in fiber content, low in fat, and free from cholesterol. They are a great source of protein and improve digestive health.

They are also perfect for high weight loss because they are easily digestible and low in calorie content.

Using oats for baking yeast breads needs to be combined with white or whole wheat flour because oats almost have no gluten. The more oats to use, the denser and more brittle the bread will be.

To have your own oat flour, put 1 ¼ cups of rolled oats in a food processor. Process it until you achieve finely textured flour. 1 1/3 cups of rolled oats will yield a cup of oat flour.

You may notice that oat flour is a little courser than regular commercial oat flour, but it will still be good for bread recipes.

Oatmeal Bread Variants

There are many variants of oatmeal breads such as French toast with kamut, oatmeal date bread, honey graham oatmeal bread, cinnamon raisin bread with oatmeal and sprouted wheat, caraway oat bran bread, cranberry oatmeal pumpkin bread, oat bran bread, maple oatmeal bread, old fashioned oatmeal bread, and more.

To give you a sample of an oatmeal bread recipe, here is a simple guide to baking an Einkorn oatmeal bread.

Whole Grain Einkorn Levain

This kind of oatmeal bread is poolish and instead of baker’s yeast to start the enzyme activity, it uses a natural sourdough.

Avoid using high gluten flours when building levain. To make whole grain Einkorn levain, you need 2.4 oz Einkorn flour, 2.4 oz water, 1 oz or 2 tablespoons mature culture.

For the final dough, you will need 5.6 oz Einkorn flour, ½ lb bread flour, ½ lb water, 3 oz salt, and 4.8 oz mature culture.

Make the poolish by dissolving the mature culture in the water and mixing it in the Einkorn flour.

It should be done approximately 12 to 14 hours before the final mix. Let the mixture stand in a covered container at about 70 degrees F.

To make the dough, in a mixing bowl, combine all the other ingredients. Mix them in a spiral mixer for three minutes to fully incorporate all the ingredients.

The dough should be medium in looseness. Mix them again for 2 to 2 ½ minutes.

Cover the dough for 2 ½ hours for fermentation. Fold it twice during the fermentation process with 50 minutes intervals.

Then, shape the dough oblong or round and place it on a parchment paper. Let it rest for 2 to 2 ½ hours. Before putting the dough in the oven, score it with serrated knife.

Bake the loaf at preheated 450 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes. For a perfect crust, put in the oven a steam pan or spray the walls with water three times during the first 15 minutes of baking.

The bread should have a good volume, light texture, and delicious flavor. It should have enough good holes and good crumbs.

Sweet Potato Healthy Bread Recipes

Another healthy bread recipe is sweet potato bread.

To make your own sweet potato bread, you will need whole wheat flour (3 cups if the season is cold or dry, or 4 cups if it is humid), 3 teaspoons of yeast, 1 cup scalded milk, 1 tablespoon salt, ½ cup sugar, and 1 cup creamed sweet potato.

First step for sweet potato bread, dissolve the yeast in milk. Add sugar, salt, and potatoes. Mix them well. Then add the whole wheat flour.

Knead the mixture on a well-floured board for 10 to 15 minutes until the dough is not sticky anymore. Put the dough back into the mixing bowl with vegetable oil liberally applied within the walls.

Turn over the dough to coat all the sides with the oil. Let the dough rise for about one hour inside a warm oven.

When dough has risen, get a punch of dough and roll it into two loaves and put it in a 48 inch greased loaf pan. Place this pan inside the warm oven.

To determine if the loaves are ready for baking, lift the pan slightly up, and when you notice that it is lighter, the loaves are ready to bake.

Sweet potato bread is a light loaf of whole wheat that is easy to bake in less time. It contains vitamins and minerals for healthier lifestyle and improved health.

Gluten Free Bread

Gluten free breads are always healthy. Gluten-free flours include almond flour, brown and white rice flour, corn bran, rice polish, potato starch flour, soy flour, tapioca starch, polenta meal, cornstarch, and more.

These are commonly used gluten free flours for baking gluten free breads.

Tips For Baking Gluten Free Breads

Baking with different kinds of ingredients, especially flours, needs different procedures and techniques. For baking gluten free breads, here are some of the tips to achieve a delicious taste and good texture:

  • Beat eggs well before adding them with other ingredients.
  • It is acceptable that the yeast may be cold. But, for the rest of the other ingredients, they should be at room temperature.
  • To make the bread last longer, add a teaspoon of cider vinegar in the bread recipe.
  • Removing milk from the bread recipe completely changes the taste and texture of the bread which is still delicious.
  • The humidity of the environment while working on the dough, the type of flour, and the brand of flour influence the amount of water needed for the right consistency of the dough.
  • Slice the cooled bread to keep them fresh and ready for use. Wrap the bread slices with aluminum foil, put them in a bag, and freeze.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Recipe

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Recipe:

For me, making homemade bread is a one-of-a-kind experience.

There is something special in knowing that my grandmother used to make that kind of bread every time my family and I went to visit her.

The inviting smell of bread that’s baking, that we would notice the second we walked through her doorstep, is one of my favorite childhood memories.

That is why I love making bread for my family so that they can be the part of my family tradition, as well.

I truly enjoy trying out various kinds of bread recipes, from salty to sweet (though I prefer sweet), and one of my favorites are Cinnamon Raisin bread recipes (sometimes I bake bread in the oven and sometimes, when I don’t feel like working too much, I just put it in the bread machine).

So, today, I’m going to share these super delicious, sweet bread recipes that you can eat in the morning, for lunch, or simply as brunch (when you need some sugar).

Let’s dive into the world of the homemade bread, and enjoy the process, shall we?

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Recipe

  • Prep time: 15-30 mins
  • Baking time: 40-50 mins
  • Total time: 1 ½ hour Serve: 1 loaf of bread

  • Cinnamon-sugar

  • ¾ slightly warm milk
  • ½ cup dried cranberries, raisins, or whatever else dried fruit you like (I prefer raisins)
  • 2 Tablespoons butter (should be soft)
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ cup sugar (you can use brown sugar as well)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 to ¼ slightly warm water (a smaller amount is used under humid conditions; a larger one is used in winter, or In a dry climate area)
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast or instant yeast

  1. Place all the ingredients in a larger bowl, and mix with a mixer, or by hand. The final result should be soft and well-combined dough.
  2. When the dough looks nice, round it and then transfer into another, oiled bowl. Leave it for 2 – 2, 5 hours to rise. It should be bulky and puffy, but it doesn’t have to rise too much.
  3. When the dough has risen enough, gently form it into a log and place it in a greased loaf pan. Next, use greased plastic wrap, or aluminum foil to cover the pan. Let the dough rise one more time, till it reaches the top of the pan. After that, turn on the oven and let it preheat, on 350 degrees F.
  4. The next step is to uncover the risen dough and use a silicone brush to put milk. Sprinkle the loaf with the cinnamon-sugar combination, to get that unique aroma.
  5. Bread should bake for around 45 minutes, depending on your oven. Just make sure to stay close to the oven, so that you can easily check the bread. When the bread is golden brown, check it if it’s done.
  6. The last step is to remove the bread and place it on a rack and let it cool. Don’t eat it while it’s still hot because your stomach certainly won’t like that.
  7. You can serve the bread with honey and butter or with strawberry jam. Or be creative, and try out something new! I personally love to drink a cup of milk while eating a slice of this amazing bread. Bon appetite!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Recipe II version

For those of you who love homemade bread, but actually don’t want to deal with making one, there is this clever recipe, for baking cinnamon raisin bread in a bread machine.

This is especially great if you have kids, as you can set the delay timer and the bread will be ready for your kids when they come back from school. That way, they can always eat fresh bread.

  • Prep time: 15 mins
  • Baking time: It depends on your bread machine
  • Servings: 1.5 pounds loaf of bread

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 deciliters water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil or soft butter
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¾ cup raisins (or whatever else dried fruit you like)
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast

  1. Place all the ingredients (except raisins or other dried fruit) in an inner pan of your bread machine. If your machine doesn’t show which would be the right order for adding the ingredients, then add liquids first, dry ingredients next, and yeast in the end.
  2. Select cycle for “sweet bread”, light or medium crust, and 5-pound loaf. Then start the unit. When your machine sounds an alarm (that “beep” sound), you should add raisins. This will happen after half an hour in the baking process.
  3. If your bread machine does come with a viewing window, feel free to open it at any time, in order to check on the dough. In case the dough sticks to the sides of the inner pan, use a spatula to un-stick it.
  4. When your bread is finally done, you can leave it on a “keep warm” mode (if you must). However, I do recommend you taking it out immediately because it will become dry or the crust can become too stiff. Place the bread on a rack to cool, for around 20 minutes (or more, your choice) and then slice it with a bread knife.
  5. Serve it with jam, honey, and butter, or toppings.

Tips For Storing Homemade Bread:

Homemade bread should be kept in plastic and stored in a dry and cool place. But, if there is the slightest possibility of moisture being present, don’t do this.

Another way to keep your homemade bread fresh is to wrap it up in a clean and dry kitchen towel and then store it in a paper bag.
